Right from the source, Tseric lets us in on the current goings on with the transfer service and how some hardware failures affect the scheduling behind it. Here’s a tidbit:
Due to the current hardware failures the Paid Character Transfer system is being affected. No further Character Transfers or the Account Administration page will be available until this issue has been corrected.

Since its launch in November 2004, we’ve seen the introduction of several large dungeons, zones, and seasonal celebrations, not to mention new loot, crafting recipes, and Battlegrounds, the popular PvP arenas that Blizzard will be enhancing with cross-realm support in the upcoming 1.12 patch (which, interestingly, will be available on the Public Test Realm ahead of the patch’s final release)…………..
